Just wanted to send out an event update for the Women's Resource Center. Today from 4:00pm to 6:00pm the WRC will be hosting a 4th annual reception event. They will have cake and refreshment for those who are interested in attending. They will be discussing sexual violence  creative expressions through art, open mic (poetry), relaxation and well-being, celebration on women accomplishments, etc.

VIP Blood

Hello volunteers,

The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive today (2/27) at Wesley Church on 1203 W Green St, Urbana, IL from 11-3. I encourage you all to donate blood or volunteer. All presenting donors will be getting a free t-shirt! Also please keep your eyes peeled for our March blood drive that we are hosting with the American Red Cross when we get back from spring break.

VIP Special Projects

Hi volunteers!

We have an awesome opportunity coming up THIS SATURDAY volunteering for Read Across America.  The event will take place from 9:30am-1:30pm, and will be broken up into two shifts (9:30-11:30 & 11:30-1:30).  If you are able to help out with either shift, please fill out the GoogleDoc below so I can get an accurate count of volunteers.  They really need our help, so it would be great if we could get a good turnout!

The event will take place at Lincoln Square in Urbana, and we will be taking the 13N Silver bus from the Union to get there.  The bus times are as follows:  (Please plan on arriving at the Illini Union bus stop at least 5 minutes early)

Boys and Girls Club from 4-5
Work with kindergartners to 2nd graders and do some fun arts and crafts!

Circle of Friends from 4-5
Chat with seniors and help them do some simple crafts!

VIP Animal Allies

For those of you who are interested in volunteering with the Champaign County Humane Society, their next orientation is Wednesday, February 13th at 6:00 pm (which is mandatory if you wish to volunteer with them). It will be held at the Champaign Public Library and I, or one of my coordinators, will be driving the VIP van there (spots are based on a first come first serve). However, there is also a bus that will take you there (I will post directions on how to get there as it gets closer, or you can look atwww.cumtd.com). If you are interested in attending the orientation please reply no later than SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH BY 5:00 PM. You don't have to go if you've already been to an orientation in the past. 


If you can't make this months orientation, don't worry-- they hold one every month!

VIP Arts Outreach

This week, we have volunteering at the Canterbury center on Tuesday from 3-4:40. Transportation will be provided, but please arrive at 2:40.

Also, starting February 14th, we will also be volunteering at the Circle of Friends center. This project will be every Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30. Transportation will be provided as well.

VIP Arts Outreach

Want to help teach Japanese culture to kids? This project will include assisting in drawing, language, and other cultural lessons. Please e-mail me ASAP if you are interested.

Also, I am trying to set up a project with the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club, however, in order for it to work out, I need YOUR help! I am looking for coordinators to lead this event on Wednesdays from 4-5pm. You will be doing arts and crafts with kids, so this is a great and fun opportunity!!! Even if you can not do this weekly, we can work something out. Let me know if you are interested in working with kids and making a difference in their lives!
